Ingredients

2 cups shortening
2 cups brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 whole egg yolk
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons salt
4 tablespoons cinnamon
2 whole egg white


 
Instructions
Preheat oven to 275F

Cream shortening and brown sugar, add vanilla and egg yolk. Mix until smooth and light.

Sift-measure flour, resift with salt, and cinnamon.

Work the two mixtures together. Butter a pan, pat out the combined mixture until 1/4 inch thick. Mark into squares. Spread egg white over top and sprinkle with chopped nuts.

Bake for 30 minutes.
